If I could just dance my life away
And wake each morn to a Springtime day;
If I could just dream as I rest by a stream
And listen the while to the birds as they sing;
And if I could just play and have fun with a dare
Forget about work it's schedules and cares;
If I could just love and learn to be loved
Then I would speak of God's grace from above.
I'd ride the wings of the wind in my dreams
And leave the real world of fading things;
I'd imagine my life without pain nor sorrow
I'd create in my dreams a perfect tomorrow.
I'd remember the footprints that I saw in the sand
As I thought I was alone yet held God's Hand.
But I wake from the whisper of the dreamy night
As the yet still quiet awaits the day's plight
I must dream of tomorrow and challenge today
With "a dreamy agenda" that gets in my way.
