I thirst. I thirst for the
Dawn of day. The light of morn.
When obstacles in my
Path lay, when my heart
Was torn, and my life
Well-worn, I thirst for the
Dawn of day.
I thirst. I wait. I wait
And wait. Forever asking,
"Is this my fate"?
My soul is dry as the
Desert betrays,
With the scorching sun
It's life-threatening rays.
I thirst for the day--
The day to understand.
Then, with a struggle to squint
And much to my surprise
I'm swaying in the wind
Touching the sky.
My Maker knew--
He knew my thirst,
Eager for the day.
I knew not His plan
Nor this palm I am,
Nor my stature upright...the
Wind to sway.
My roots send out
Feelers, testing the soil.
My thirst to be quenched
Like a palm so royal.
Just like the palm
Swaying with the wind,
I'm swaying with the wind--
Swaying with the wind.
Dawn of day. The light of morn.
When obstacles in my
Path lay, when my heart
Was torn, and my life
Well-worn, I thirst for the
Dawn of day.
I thirst. I wait. I wait
And wait. Forever asking,
"Is this my fate"?
My soul is dry as the
Desert betrays,
With the scorching sun
It's life-threatening rays.
I thirst for the day--
The day to understand.
Then, with a struggle to squint
And much to my surprise
I'm swaying in the wind
Touching the sky.
My Maker knew--
He knew my thirst,
Eager for the day.
I knew not His plan
Nor this palm I am,
Nor my stature upright...the
Wind to sway.
My roots send out
Feelers, testing the soil.
My thirst to be quenched
Like a palm so royal.
Just like the palm
Swaying with the wind,
I'm swaying with the wind--
Swaying with the wind.
